Out of box. Felt as if it is directed by the assistant of Lijo Jose Pallissery. Suspenseful and hilarious. Raw and dramatic.

8. “Doctor” directed by Nelson
After the last match, Brian Lara asked the crowd (about his own career) “Did I entertain you?”. The answer was a big yes. That is what exactly this Doctor also asking. The answer is again a big YES. An utter delight.

7. “Rocky” directed by Arun Matheswaran
Like a good film noir, there is a lot of tension running throughout. Everybody is after somebody. “Raththam Therikka Therikka Oru Gangster Film“. The movie is stylish and brutal. Fantastic for most of the way. Bharathiraja delivers the performance of his acting career. Vasanth Ravi is perfect as Rocky.

6. “Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum” directed by Vasanth
An anthology film about three ordinary real-to-life women so beautifully bursting with the sights of life’s reality. The year’s most moving film. A precious movie with with strong performances.

Despite its violence, the film received high praise and is a definite must-watch movie. While not up to the level of Mari Selvaraj’s previous Pariyerum Perumal, it was clearly engineered to be more accessible to audience.
Very nearly a perfect movie.

3. “Sarpatta Parambarai” directed by Pa. Ranjith
