Mani Ratnam’s Next Is Ponniyin Selvan! Probably

A strong buzz in the Industry is that Mani Ratnam’s next is Ponniyin Selvan. The project which many top-names in Tamil industry planned and dropped earlier. Now a strong rumour is rolling around as the legendary director Mani Ratnam is in scripting work of the epic novel. Casting also going on. Ponniyin Selvan is a historical novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. It is considered as one of the greatest novels ever in world literature.

Ponniyin Selvan novel tells the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Chola king Rajaraja Chola. Now who will do which character! Earlier there was a rumour of Vijay doing Vandiyathevan character. Then it was Vijay Sethupathi. Now it seems everything changed. The new cast also looks very impressive though we miss Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi in one movie.

Vikram is said to be casted as Aditya Karikalan, the eldest son of Sundara Chola, and Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vandiyathevan. That was unexpected. Amitabh Bachchan as Sundara Chola, the emperor of Chola empire. Aishwarya Rai in the most important Nandini, the Pazhuvoor Princess. Nandhini is the wife of Periya Pazhuvettraraiyar, and Periya Pazhuvettraraiyar character is rumoured to be done by Mohan Babu. Jayam Ravi in the pivotal character of Arulmozhivarman, also known as Raja Raja Chola-I, and also called as Ponniyin Selvan.

Latest addition to the casting is Keerthy Suresh. She will be seen as Kundavai, the Chola princess. Kundavai is the only daughter of Sundara Chola. Another name associated with the film is Malayalam actor Jayaram. And more to come. The crew details are yet to be revealed, and we are waiting for the official confirmation from Mani Ratnam office.
