This album is a virus which will make you forget all other recent music tracks and creates a whole new world of music. Heavier than Lysergic acid diethylamide.
‘Theera…’ and ‘Parandhu Sell Vaa…’, are highly addictive slow poisons.
‘Parandhu Sella Vaa’ is so sexy while ‘Theera’ is a mix of different genre, a lovely groove, and a really nice song. Fascinating tracks. The way the melody folds back on itself is really delicious.
‘Malargal Kettean…’ and ‘Naane Varugiraen...’.
Will be the two songs you will be listening even after 2025. It will touch your artistic emotion and very likely to become your evergreen favorites. The chorus is perfect, beautifully developed and crafted. ‘Malargal Kettean’ is emotionally moving. Not to miss Chitra’s voice modulation in ‘Malargal Kettean’. Outstanding. The song will be ladies’ favorite with absolute zero doubt. It will be bring tears.
‘Mental Manadhil…’ and ‘Aye Sinamika…’ – The instant hits.
Play it and travel with your other half. It brings you an energy from nowhere, a kind of romantic feeling and occasional goosebumps. I can’t even imagine the kind of electrifying feel I will be having when this song comes in the movie @ theater. Oh My Holy God. Absolutely ***king incredible.
“Kalyaanam Katchaeri
Samsaaram Sammandhi
Pen Pillai Aan Pillai
Aiyaiyyo Oh Maane
– this is the point of high voltage electric power.
Mana Mana Mana Mental Manathil
Laka Laka Laka Pollaa Vayadhil”
There is a power called Rahman power. ‘Rahman Power’ is the rate at which electric energy is transferred by a song from our foot to head top. It is popularly known as ‘electrifying effect’.
- The high speed – heavy beats – then comes the romantic ‘Kara Aattakkaara’ – again rap – melodies rhythm in-between – again heavy speed – again chorus. Going to rock the theater.
After the high speed and rap (Ennaipaathu Viraipaangko Vidakkathe Odungo) comes the beautiful rhythmic tone and what follows is the chorus ‘Kara Aattakkaara Kaathirukene’.
Maula Wa Sallim
and ‘Mawlaya Salli Wassalim da-Iman Abadan Ala Habi Bika Khairil Khalqi Kullimi’ _/\_ Awesome. This song is giving a kind of godly feeling. (Lyrics here)
A melodious sufi stuff with a sweet voice. These song grabbed me from the first listen and still has a certain power over me! Ultra simple and ultra classic.
Note: This album will bring another National Award for Vairamuthu, and most likely for Chitra and AR Rahman too. If not them for this, then who else for what?
My Pick of the Album? – Well that is tough, anyway I go for ‘Malargal Kaettaen…’ – the classical touch, like ‘Enge Enathu Kavithai..’. The best of all. The long lasting.
If you play the tracks casually, without paying much attention, you’ll miss out the poison. This is one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve heard in recent times. AR Rahman relates a lot of feelings through OK Kanmani. An amazing album. Instant Inception. Just put it in your computer, car stereo, music player, xbox or anything and turn it on, then go wild.
In Cobb’s words: ‘Once you give enough attention to this album, it will take hold of the brain, it’s almost impossible to eradicate. These songs sticks; right in there somewhere. Listen, there’s something you should know about Ok Kanmani… about AR Rahman. Rahman is like a virus, resilient, highly contagious. The tracks of Rahman from this album can grow. It can grow to re-invent you.’
As long as there are people on Earth, some of them will be listening to AR Rahman songs.
